What the model looks at
Each 16 px cell of the screenshot becomes a 9-bin histogram of gradient directions. Blocks of 2×2 cells are contrast-normalized, which gives 34,992 numbers. Two hundred shallow trees vote on those numbers, and a softmax turns the votes into the four probabilities above. The dark plate shows the histograms as lines.
